Die Callas bevorzugte ganz offensichtlich Rubin- und Diamantschmuck. Nebst diesen Ohrclips besass sie auch ein aufsehenerregendes Collier (siehe Fotos) mit Rubinen und Diamanten das sie des öfteren trug (Schätzpreis: € 78'000-120'000), sowie ein Armband mit kissenförmigen Rubinen und Diamanten im Baguetteschliff, dessen Wert ca.€ 43'000-69'000 beträgt.


MARIA CALLAS (1923-77) Maria Anna Sophie Cecilia Kalogeropoulos, die wohl berühmteste Koloratursopranistin aller Zeiten, wurde 1923 in New York geboren. Ihre Eltern, George und Evangelia Kalogeropoulos, waren im August desselben Jahres aus ihrer griechischen Heimat nach Long Island emigriert. 1929 änderte die Familie ihren Namen in Callas um; die Mutter nahm jedoch wieder den Namen Kalogeropoulos an, als Maria gerade 14 Jahre alt war, in dieser Zeit, als sich ihre Eltern trennten und sie mit ihrer Mutter und Schwester nach Athen zog.
Dort wurde sie am Nationalen Konservatorium aufgenommen, wo sie 1939 sie im Rezital Cavalleria Rusticana ihren ersten Auftritt hatte. Im Jahre 1941 machte sie in Boccaccio mit der Lyric Theatre Company ihr offizielles Bühnendebüt, doch im Jahre 1944 beschloss sie, nach Amerika zurückzukehren, wo sie den Namen Callas wieder annahm.
1949 heiratete sie den reichen Industriellen Giovanni Battista Meneghini, der sogleich das Management ihrer Karriere in die Hand nahm.
Im Lauf der darauffolgenden zehn Jahre erlangte sie aufgrund ihrer legendären Auftritte in Mailand, New York, Chicago und London Weltruhm.
Dann lernte sie den griechischen Reedereimagnaten Aristoteles Onassis kennen, eine Begegnung, die das Ende ihrer Ehe bedeutete. Das war der Anfang vom Ende ihrer Bühnenkarriere. Sie widmete sich fortan ihrem neuen Partner Onassis und ging völlig in ihrem Jet-Set-Lebensstil auf.
Die stürmische Beziehung zwischen der Callas und Onassis dauerte jedoch nicht lange, und im Jahre 1968 heiratete Onassis die ehemalige First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy. Ihren letzten öffentlichen Auftritt hatte Maria Callas in Japan im November 1974. Danach kehrte sie nach Paris zurück, wo sie im Jahre 1977 verstarb.

They are the rubies, pearls and diamonds that once adorned the world's favourite diva,she often wore this in Monte-Carlo.... Onassis in the early years closed to the Prince of Monaco, gave Princess Grace a bracelet of diamonds and rubies as a wedding gift. Ari’s mistress Maria Callas and Grace became friends. The Prince Rainier and his wife Grace Kelly, often took cruises with Onassis on his yacht Christina.

“La Divina”, discutiblemente, la mas famosa soprano del mundo, eran también una apasionada y su conocedora coleccionista de joyas.

La mayor parte de su colección le fue regalada por su esposo, el rico industrial Giovanni Batista Meneghini, durante los años 50 y fue heredada posteriormente por una amiga cercana a su muerte, acaecida 27 años atrás.

Los rubíes de Maria Callas

Los años '50 fueron los "años de oro" de Callas. No sólo fueron los años en que su nombre adquirió renombre mundial por sus actuaciones en La Scala de Milán, sino que tambien fueron los años en que su esposo le obsequió exquisitas piezas de joyería. En sus apariciones públicas, siempre aparecía vestida elegantemente, luciendo las magníficas gemas de su colección. En las numerosas fotos de este período, el espíritu de los tiempos y el aura de Maria Callas han quedado inmortalizados. En foto superior ella muestra un par de aros clip de rubíes y los diamantes.

El amor de Callas por las joyas de diamante y rubí es indiscutible. Sobresalían en su colección. Además de los aros, en la foto ella luce un impresionante collar del rubí y diamante, con un precio estimado de $ 90.000-140.000. El brazalete de rubíes y de diamantes fue valorado entre el £ 28.000-80.000.

Su biografía

Maria Callas (1923-77): Nacida Maria Ana Sophie Cecilia Kalogeropoulos, en Nueva York, en 1923, fue, probablemente, la más famosa soprano de todos los tiempos. Sus padres, George y Evangelia Kalogeropoulos, eran inmigrants griegos que habían partido de su patria en agosto de ese mismo año. En 1929 el nombre de familia fue cambiado a Callas, pero debido a la separación de sus padres, acaecida cuando ella contaba con 14 años, Kalogeropoulos fue retomado, ya que su madre las llevó a su y su hermana a Atenas. Allí fue aceptada en el Conservatorio Nacional, donde en 1939 hizo su debut en el Cavalleria Rusticana Rezital.

El año 1941 marca su debut oficial en Boccaccio con la Compañía de Teatro Lírica, y en 1944, en su regreso a América, ella retoma el apellido Callas una vez más.

En 1949 contrajo matrimonio con el rico industrial Giovanni Battista Meneghini, que inmediatamente comenzo a manejar su carrera.

Durante los siguientes diez años, alcanzó su fama mundial, debido a sus ya legendarias actuaciones en Milán, Nueva York, Chicago y Londres.

Posteriormente conoció a magnate griego Aristotle Onassis, un encuentro que puso fin a su matrimonio y marcó el principio del fin de su carrera.

Centró su vida en Onassis y comenzó a vivir en el estilo del jet-set. La diva preferido del mundo lució a menudo sus joyas en Monte Carlo.... Onassis era muy cercano al príncipe de Mónaco en aquellos días, y dio a princesa Grace una pulsera de diamantes y de rubíes como regalo de boda. Maria y Grace se hicieron amigas y los príncipes realizaron varias travesías con Onassis y Callas en su yate Christina. Pero la tempestuosa relación entre Callas y el magnate griego no duró, y en 1968 el Onassis casó Jacqueline Kennedy. Maria Callas realizó su última aparición pública en noviembre de 1974, en Japón. Regresó luego a París, donde falleció en 1977.
