Saphire der Russischen Grossfürstin Anna Pavlovna - Königin der
Niederlande
Königin Beatrix trägt hier einen Brustschmuck aus einem grossen facettierten
Saphir und Diamanten, der einst Ihrer Ur-Ur-Grossmutter Königin Emma
der Niederlande gehörte. Die wundervolle Brosche hat als Zentrum einen
herrlichen Saphir aus der Saphir-Collection Königin Anna-Pavlovna, die
Saphire über alles liebte. Anna Pavlova ( Paulowna), Großfürstin
von Rußland (1795–1865) war die Tochter von Zar Paul (Pavel)
I und die Schwester von Zar Nikolaus I. 1816 heiratete sie Willem II,
den König der Niederlande.
Der Brustschmuck komplettiert die Parure von Königin Emma, man kann ihn auf verschiedene Weise tragen, z. B. mit und ohne Tropfen-Anhänger, sowie lässt sich der Mittelstein mit Fassung entnehmen und an ein anderes Oberteil, aus zwei diamantbesetzten Flügeln anfügen, Königin Beatrix trägt diese öfters (siehe Bild unten).
Das holländische Königshaus besitzt eine weitere Brosche in dieser Art,
genannt devant de corsage, ebenfalls mit Saphiren und Diamanten besetzt,
die gerne von Königin Wilhelmina und Königin
Beatrix getragen wurde.
Auf der Suche nach der Herkunft und Ursprung der Edelsteine, fand ich
ein Gemälde der Königin Anna Pavlovna (oben rechts) mit einem
unglaublich prächtigen Juwelen - Gürtel, der einige sehr grosse
Saphire in ähnlicher Art und Weise, sowie Fassung zeigt, es könnte
deshalb sein, das diese aus dem Gürtel stammen.

Queen Beatrix wearing a sapphire devant de corsage, it belongs to her
great-great-grandmother Queen Emma`s parure, a large bow, encrusted with full
of diamonds and a big sapphire as centerpiece, another large drop-cut
sapphire, is dangling between the ribbons.
It can worn without the pendant or with the sapphire drop. The great sapphire can be lifted out of its setting and can be used as a pendant on a brooch with wings and a large saffire between the wings.
The Orange- Nassau family has lots of sapphires in their possesion even
one of 163 carats, everal of these were originaly bought by Queen Anna-Pavlovna
who loved sapphires!
One of that sapphires, owned by the family, are set in diamond clusters
and are used as this very big brooch, called stomacher or "devant-de-corsage"
to be worn on the middle of evening-dress.

The Dutch Royal Hous ownes another stomacher like this, also made by
sapphires and diamonds and often used by Queen Wilhelmina und Queen
Beatrix
After searching around the history of this extraordinary gems, I found
a drawing of Queen Anna Pavlovna and I think it is possible, that some
of the large jewels are earlier parts of her magnificentt gem-waistbelt
(picture above).
Queen Anna Pavlovna (1795-1865)
Anna Pavlovna was born in 1795 in St Petersburg. She was the daughter
of Paul I, the Russian tsar.
Alexander I, her brother and Paul's heir, arranged the betrothal of
Anna to the Dutch crown prince, later King William II. The marriage
was held in St Petersburg in 1816. The Dutch royal house did not object
to the Russian princess's desire to remain loyal to the Russian Orthodox
faith. In 1840 William and Anna Pavlovna were crowned in Amsterdam.
Although Queen of the Netherlands, Anna maintained the etiquette of
the Russian court. She died in 1865 at Buitenrust near The Hague. William
and Anna had five children, one of whom, the later King William III.

The earings can be worn in three ways. As studs; as studs with a saffire drop and full as shown on your pic. The sapphieres can be changed by diamonds. It is said that the earings were made from the weddingparure of Queen Wilhelmina.
