Rubin-Schleife aus dem iranischen Kronschatz, besetzt mit Diamanten und Burma Rubinen, ausgestellt in der iranischen Nationalbank in Teheran.

Diese einzelne Rubin-Schleife kann voraussichtlich einem kompletten Entwurf von ca. 1870, dem ehemaligen Hofjuwelier der Dynastie Romanov, C.E. Bolin aus St. Petersburg zugeordnet werden.

Laut der Hermitage in St. Petersburg, stammt dieser Entwurf aus dem kaiserlichen Kabinett und war einer von vielen Entwürfen anlässlich eines Wettbewerbs für die Erstellung einer großen Rubingarnitur für die Tochter des Zaren Alexander II. (1818-1881), Grossfürstin Marie Alexandrowna (1853-1920) zu ihrer Hochzeit mit Prinz Alfred von Großbritannien und Irland, Herzog von Edinburgh.

Für die Großfürstin wurde jedoch zu ihrer Hochzeit 1874 eine andere Rubin Parure von C.E. Bolin gefertigt, so dass angenommen werden kann, dass dieser Entwurf nicht für sie ausgeführt worden ist.

Man hat zuweilen auch auf bereits bestehende Entwürfe zurückgegriffen, um für andere Mitglieder der kaiserlichen Familie Juwelen arbeiten zu lassen. Ob diese große Dekoration im Ganzen geschaffen wurde oder vielleicht auch nur eine der Schleifen zur Ausfühung kam ist ebenfalls ungewiss.

Wie die Rubin-Schleife nun ihren Weg in den ehemaligen persischen Kronschatz gefunden hat ist unklar, es kann ein Geschenk an die Pahlavis gewesen sein, genauso, können sie dieses einzigartige Juwel selbst erworben haben.

Ruby and Diamond Bow Brooch made by C.E. Bolin

This single bow ornament seems to be part of a design for a ruby decoration circa 1870 by the former imperial jeweller C.E. Bolin of St. Petersburg.
The information from the Hermitage St. Petersburg says that this design comes from the Imperial Cabinet and was one of several designs made for a competition for a ruby parure for the only daughter of Alexander II (1818-1881), Maria Alexandrovna (1853-1920) who married Alfred, Duke of Edinburgh, later the Duke of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha.
The Grand Duchess received for her wedding in 1874 another complete ruby parure made by C.E. Bolin, so that it is not known if this ornament was manufactured for her as well.
It was common that sometimes still existing designs were used for later orders for other members of the imperial family. It is not known for sure if this large jewel was manufactured in total or if just one of the bows was made.
How this ruby bow found its way into the former crown treasury of  Iran is not known as well; maybe it was a present for the Pahlavi family or it was bought by themselves.
