Wallis told to the jeweler Harry Winston when she saw the perfect pear-shaped
yellow diamonds.
The Windsors bought the lapel clips centre in 1948, one of 40,81 and
the other 52,13 carats.
The pear-shaped yellow diamonds top with circular diamonds, were re-mounted
as earclips by Cartier in 1968.
The Duchess told her hairdresser Alexandre that the diamonds had been
given to the Prince of Wales by an Indian Maharajah on his tour in 1921.
From Cartiers archive: two pear-shaped diamonds: 8,13 and 8,01 carat;
two brillant-cut diamonds: 5.17 and 5,18 carats pave settet with 252
brillant-cut diamonds total 15,56 carats!
Cecil Beaton photographed the Duchess, wearing her yellow diamonds at
the Rothschild Ball the clip on her ears and both canary diamonds as
a brooch together, in claw-set within a border of gold corded wire scroll
motifs, set at intervals with brilliant-cut diamonds.
´.......I am enclosing several designs for the two
canary diamonds which I hope will please you....`wrote Harry Winston
to the Duchess of Windsor on 29th January, 1948. His letter continued,
`... The two stones with approximately 92,95 carats and are priceless!
Never before in my experience have I seen a pair of pearshaped canary
diamonds so wonderfully matched - both because of their exquisite brilliancy
and lustre and their unusually large size. It is due only to existing
conditions in the world today that we were able to puchase diamonds
such as these from old estates of royalty. In fact, they are so magnificent,
that were ist not you - I am offering them to - I should keep them here

Die Schmuck-Sammlung der Herzogin von Windsor
Die Windsor Juwelen, legendäre Liebesgaben und Geschenke
des Herzogs von Windsors an seine Geliebte und spätere Frau.
1936/1937 dankt König Edward VIII von England ab,
um die geschiedene Wallis Simpson zu heiraten. Edward, jetzt Herzog
von Windsor, heiratet Wallis Simpson und sie tauschen Eheringe aus Platin
von Cartier aus.
In der Schmucksammlung der Herzogin befand sich auch dieser herrliche
Ohrschmuck auf dem Bild oben. Einmal in Kombination und separat getragen.
Die grossen intensiv gelben Diamanten wurden zu einem einzigartigen
Ohrring zusammengestellt, sattgelbe Diamant-Tropfen von je über
8 Karat mit je einem Brillant von über 5 Karat, in einer gewölbten
Goldfassung mit 252 naturfarben gelben Diamanten von zusammen 15,56
Karat.
Wallis, Herzogin von Windsor, ist eine Expertin und Sammlerin
von Schmuck mit exquistem Geschmack, ergänzte dieses Oberteil mit
2 riesigen Canary Diamanten von zusammen über 92,95 Karat als Anhänger
an diesen Ohrschmuck. Der Herzog ersteht dieses Pärchen von Harry
Winston 1948 für seine Frau und sie trägt sie im Bild oben
als Brosche kombiniert, sodass eine Herzform entsteht und die Oberteile
als Ohrclips.
....übrigens......
Gelbe Diamanten gelten als Glückssteine der Jungfrau Geborenen.
Angeblich verstärken sie deren lebensbejahende Einstellung.
