Mountbatten Tiara| Art Deco Jewelry |Chaumet Diamond Tiara

From Cartier it was purchased by Edwina, Countess Mountbatten, in 1937.*

The first Countess Mountbatten of Burma, wore the stunning Kokoshnik style diamond tiara, to the many formal events she attended as a relation by marriage to George V, George VI, and Elizabeth II, and the duke of Edinburgh. While her husband officiated as viceroy and then governor general of India, (1947-48), she alternated it with another tiara of pearls and diamonds, because, according to her daughter, “she could not be seen twice in the same one.”
This tiara passed from the Countess Mountbatten of Burma to her daughter Lady Pamela Hicks. It was sold at auction on December 2002 at Sotheby’s.
