Diadem der englischen Prinzessin Louise, Herzogin von Argyll Prinzessin Louise von Grossbritannien und Nordirland, Tochter von Queen Victoria Geschenke an Queen Victorias 4. Tochter Louise anlässlich ihrer Hochzeit mit dem späteren Duke of Argyll. Die Tiara ist eine aufsteigende Anordnung unterschiedlich grosser, facettierter Smaragde und Diamanten, umrankt von reichlich Blattwerk, ebenfalls aus Smaragden und Diamanten, sie wurde vom Herzogs und der Herzogin von Argyll an die Braut ihres Sohnes dem Count Lorne, präsentiert. Das Diadem wurde bei Messrs. Garrard and Co gefertigt. Das Medaillon mit einem großen Smaragd, war ein Geschenk der Königin, an ihre Tochter, wie auch ein sehr große großer Smaragd mit Brillanten als Zentrum für ein Armband, der Smaragd ist jetzt im Besitz von Prinzessin Michael von Kent. Oben im Bild, die früher sehr geschätze Tochter der Queen, Louise, zukünftige Herzogin von Argyll, angekleidet zur Hochzeit der Connaughts im Jahr 1879, trägt sie die ihr Smaragddiadem. Normalerweise hatte Prinzessin Louise, Herzogin von Argyll eine enge Beziehung zu ihrer Familie. Obwohl sie sich von Zeit zu Zeit mit der Königin und ihre Schwestern Helena und Beatrice zankt, waren die Beziehungen nicht für lange angespannt. Sie hatte eine lebenslange Korrespondenz mit ihrem Bruder, Prinz Arthur, und war eine von König Edward VII's Lieblingsgeschwister. In ihrem letzten Willen vermachte Prinzessin Louise ihre Juwelen dem Herzog und der Herzogin von Kent im Jahre 1939. Einige der schönsten Juwelen der Prinzessin sind jetzt im Besitz der Prinzessin Marie-Christine von Kent, wie z. B. die Daisy Broschen und der Smaragd-Brosche mit Diamanten. Royal Tiara | Wedding gift to Princess Louise Duchess of Argyll The tiara formed of a band of emeralds and diamonds, surmounted by a scroll work also of emeralds and diamonds was given by the Duke and Duchess of Argyll. The splendid Tiara was manufactured by Messrs. Garrard and Co. The locket with an large emerald, was a present of the Queen to her daughter, as well as a very large fine emerald set with brilliants as a centre of a bracelet, which now the emerald is in posession of Princess Michael of Kent. "Victoria recorded in her journal two days before the wedding that among the gifts she gave Louise were, "large emeralds set in diamonds, one as a pendant & one as a brooch." Princess Louise, Duchess of Argyll´s relationship with her family was generally close. Although at times she bickered with the Queen, and her sisters Helena and Beatrice, the relations did not remain strained for long. She retained a lifelong correspondence with her brother, Prince Arthur, and was one of King Edward VII's favourite sisters. Of all her siblings, she was closest to Prince Leopold, later Duke of Albany, and she was devastated by his death in 1884. In the younger generations of the family, Louise's favourite relatives were the Duke and Duchess of Kent. At the coronation of King George VI in 1937, Louise lent the Duchess the train that she designed and wore for the Coronation of Edward VII in 1902. Princess Louise bequeathed all her jewels to the Duke of Kent upon her death in 1939.
