She wears a spectacular 50 pearshaped emerald necklace in mugal or indian style. Two matching large pearshaped earrings with diamonds and a gold brooch with nine pearshaped hanging drops as pendants. On the body there is a golden crescent brooch setted with nine emeralds. On her Majestys State Ball: The Duchess of Connaught wore a lovely yellow gown and an Indian necklet of uncut emeralds and Oriental pearls. ..................     ....... Princess’s Theatre. The uncut pearshaped emeralds could be a present to the Duchess of Connaught when they left India in 1891. The Duchess of Connaught inherited from her mother a large sum of money (which was never paid), some of the finest jewels in existence, a certain set of sapphires set with diamonds (which she wore at the Duke of York's wedding), being the very best specimens in the world; she has also a girdle of square emeralds set in gold with a cross at the end, of incalculable value. The collection of furs she has is so immense that they occupied three rooms at Clarence House, although she has given many fine specimens to different members of our Royal Family. Her greatest treasure is the ermine-lined cloak and train used at her mother's coronation in the Kremlin.
