Grossfürstin Elisaveta Mikhailovna von Russland | Königlicher Schmuck

Herzog Adolph, der spätere Grossherzog von Luxemburg, war in erster Ehe mit Grossfürstin Elisaveta Mikhailovna von Russland verheiratet, einer Tochter von Großfürst Michael Romanow, die eine reiche Mitgift wie alle Grossfürstinnen in Form von Aussteuer, Möbel, Juwelen und Vermögen erhielt.
Deshalb könnte es durchaus sein, das es sich um ein Schmuckstück handelt, das, wie man sagt für sie, von einem Mitglied der Bonaparte Familie abgekauft und in Frankfurt von einem Juwelier Schlitz verändert wurde, dies ist jedoch nicht geprüft.

Das Portrait im Bild wurde nach einer Miniatur von Woldemar Hau gemalt, die Herzogin starb (1845) schon knapp 1 Jahr nach ihrer Hochzeit bei der Geburt ihres Kindes. Posthum wurde der Maler Karl Ferdinand Sohn 1847 mit dem Gemälde beauftragt.

Auf dem Bild trägt die Grossfürstin ein Armband aus Gold mit einem grossen blauen Saphir, sowie ein Schlangenarmband mit blauem Emaille, sehr populär zu dieser Zeit.

Grand Duchess Elisaveta Mikhailovna of Russia | Empire Diamond Tiara

Duke Adolph of Nassau (later Grand Duke Adolphe of Luxemburg) married Elisabeth Mikhailovna, Grand Duchess of Russia, above in the picture, painted after a Miniatur of Waldemor Hau. She died less than a year afterwards in childbed in 1845. The origin of the tiara is not known, but Grand Duchess Elisaveta Mikhailovna of Russia had brought a rich dowry upen their marriage and it is sayed that this diamond empire tiara with neo-classical floral motivs was bought from a member of the Bonaparte family and altered in Frankfurt by a jeweller Schlitz, but it`s not proofed.

Some other jewels are seen at the picture, a bracelet in form of a snake, made in gold, silver and blue enamel- very populare in that time and a bracelet of gold probably with a blue sapphire in the center.
