WEDDING OF LORD DUMFRIES IN 1932.
The King and Queen have sent a diamond brooch to Lady Eileen Forbes, younger daughter of the Earl and Countess of Granard, Forbes House, Halkin Street, and Forbes Castle, Newtown Forbes, County Longford, whose marriage to the Lord of Dumfries, son and heir of the Marquis and Marchioness of Bute, takes place to-day at Clonguish, Newtown Forbes. Lord Granad is Master the Horse to the King, and was formerly a Lord-in-Waiting King Edward VII.
The Princess Royal has given Lord Dumfries an antique seal. The gifts include diamond necklace from Earl and Countess Grauard, to the bride. Their gift to Lord Dumfries is a complete canteen of Georgian silver cutlery. Combining together in giving the bride a gold and platinum chain purse are the bridegroom’s brothers and sisters. Lady Jean, Lady Mary, Lord Robert. Lord David, Lord Patrick, and Lord Rhidiao Crichton-Stuart.
The County Longford Harriers are giving Lady Eileen a pair of gold-mounted hunting crops. She has been a keen follower of the harriers, of which her sister, Lady Moira, is joint master. Lord and Lady Granard have made arrangements that the early morning Irish mail train to County Longford carrying guests from London shall stop at the small station of Newton Forbes on its way from Dublin, which it leaves at six in the morning. Spring flowers in shades of dame and peach will adorn the little church. Lord and Lady Bute are crossing from Cardiff, and many guests will leave London to-night on the Irish Mail.
The Marquis and Marchioness of Bute have given their future daughter-in-law exquisite diamond star pendant, with pendant trellis drops may attached to the star points.

The marriage of the Earl of Dumfries, elder son of the Marquess and Marchioness of Bute, to Lady Eileen Forbes, younger daughter of the Earl and Countess of Granard, unites two great Roman Catholic families. The ceremony took place in the Catholic Church at Newton Forbes the Bishop of Ardagh and Clonmacnoise officiated at the ceremony and said the Nuptial Mass. At the conclusion of the service, he announced that he had received a telegram from the Cardinal Secretary of State of the Vatican City bringing an Apostolic Benediction from the Holy Father to the bride and bridegroom. Lady Eileen was attended by Lady Moira Forbes, Lady Mary Crichton-Stuart, Miss Gwendoline McRae, Miss Penelope and Miss Ursula Packe. After the ceremony a reception was held at Castle Forbes.
Wedding Gifts The Earl of Dumfries and Lady Eileen Forbes, whose wedding takes place at New town Forbes, Ireland, to-morrow, have beer the recipients of numerous gifts. Captain and the Hon. The Earl and Countess of Granard ( the mother is the daughter of ihe American millionaire , the late Ogdeu Mills) there are a handsome diamond necklace, probably the famous Cartier Necklace above and all the household linns.

Above this necklace was made by Cartier, London, in 1932 for Lady Granard, daughter of American Ogden Mills. From the Cartier Archiv:
Diamonds in open-back platinum setting, in the centre a large rectangular emerald of 143,13carats. The front part with graduated Persian-style fringe on a flexible collar with diamonds set in a cresent shape, the back part with graduated buckle - shaped links detaches at the side. Completed in January 1932.
In addition to the huge emerald, there are four baton diamonds flanking the emerald and, on the lower elemet, fourteen square diamonds for each of the geometric fringe motifs, plus no fewer than 2011 brilliant-cut diamonds. The stones were all supplied by the client.
At first it was a long sautoir and changed to a round collar type necklace occurred around 1930-31.

Ogden Livingston (O.L.) Mills married Consuelo's step-sister in 1911. After Consuelo's father, William K. Vanderbilt, divorced her mother Alva, he remarried a woman named Anne Harriman Sands Rutherfurd. In 1911, O.L married Margaret Rutherfurd, her daughter from a previous marriage.
