On 16 June 1936, (Viscount Elmley)Beauchamp married Else "Mona" Schiwe (1895–1989), daughter of Viggo Schiwe and former wife of Peter Christian Blicher Dornonville de la Cour.
At one time Lygon lived in the disused Winterton Lighthouse in Winterton-on-Sea, Norfolk, a village in his parliamentary constituency; after succeeding his father as the 8th Earl Beauchamp in 1938, he and Countess Beauchamp made their home at Madresfield Court, Worcestershire, the ancestral seat of the Earls Beauchamp. Beauchamp had no issue of his own by this marriage, but gained a stepdaughter, Agnete Regitze Dornonville de la Cour (born 1916, died 2010).
In 1939 the large antique diamond bow brooch, originally part of the “Diamants de la Couronne”, made for Empress Eugénie by François Kramer, was again worne by Else "Mona" Countess of Beauchamp, wife of the 8th Earl of Beauchamp.
Now she wore it together with the pearl and diamond palmette tiara and large perl drops.
The extraordinary tiara was later bought by the Sultan of Malaysia, the Sultanah Pahang, Sultanah Hajah Kalsom wore is pictured with the enormous diadem after 1991.
