On Wednesday the marriage of the Earl Roseberry and Miss Hannah Rothschild, daughter of the late. Baroness Meyer de Rothschild, was celebrated. usual in such marriages, in the first instance was performed at the district register office, this case St. George's district, iv Mountstreet, Berkeley-square.
On the occasion on Wednesday, owing to the large attendance friends of the bride and bridegroom, th.3 Board-room was used instead of the usual office, the apartment being beautifully arranged with plants and flowers. The Earl of Rosebery was accompanied by his friend Lord Carington, and Miss de Rothschild came with her cousin, Mrs. Cohen, and a few other friends. the presence the registrar, Mr. T. Worlock, and the assembled frieuds the bridegroom and bride made the customary declaration of a civil marriage ; and afterwards signed their names, tho civil marriage being attested by Mr. John Samuel, Lord Leconrield, Viscount Lascelles, Mrs. Sarah Cohen, Baron Ferdide Rothschild, and Lord Carington. Of course there were no bridesmaids nor any ceremony, but merely the ordinary formal proceedings.
The bride wore a plain morning dress of brocaded silk and fur-lined cloak, the only attractive portion of her dress being her bonnet, which was beautifully trimmed with pearls, and jewelled rose in front. After the civil marriage the noble earl and bride and party left for the bride's residence Piccadilly.
At the wedding breakfast, the Prince of Wales, in a few sentences proposed the " Health and happiness of the Earl and Countess of Rosebery," whose marriage they had met to celebrate.
Lord Rosebery briefly returned thanks for his wife and himself. Shortly after two o'clock, after receiving the cordial congratulations of their assembled friends, the Earl and Countess of Rosebery took their departure, to proceed by special train Pet worth House, Lord Leconfield's seat in Sussex. The Countess of Rosebery's travelling dress was of sapphire blue velvet, trimmed with blue fox fur, with pardessus and bonnet to match, aud muff of the same fur. She wore sapphire earrings to harmonise with her costume.
