Aus der Collection der Fürstenfamilie Henckel-Donnersmarck ist dieser Halsschmuck mit aussergewöhnlichen Smaragden.
Die Smaragde sind bei dem Pariser Juwelier Boucheron im Archiv wie folgt erwähnt:

Als Besitz der "Madame la Comtesse Henckel de Donnersmarck" ist das Kollier mit fünfzehn rechteckig geschliffenen Smaragden im Archiv vom 19. Dezember 1882, der Gräfin Henckel von Donnersmarck (La Païva) aufgeführt.
Die Goldmontierungen der Smaragde, in 18 Karat ausgeführt, stammt aus dieser Zeit der ersten Gräfin, während die Platinfassung für die kissenförmigen Diamanten als Zwischenstücke, später für Fürstin Katharina Henckel von Donnersmarck beauftragt wurden und um 1900 stammen, die Länge ist 39cm. Das Halsband wurde 2007 verkauft für $ 1.845.319.
Die Smaragd-Tropfen wurden vielfältig einsetzbar montiert - nicht nur als Ergänzung zum Kollier als Anhänger, so auch für ein eigens dafür konzipiertes Diadem der Fürstin Katharina als Spitzen aufgesetzt. Dieses Smaragd-Diadem ist hier abgebildet>>

This necklace is composed of the fifteen emeralds originally listed in the Boucheron archive of 19th December 1882 as the jewels belonging to Countess Henckel von Donnersmarck (La Païva). The gold mountings of the emeralds certainly date to the time of the first Countess, while the platinum-set diamond spacers would have been inserted later by Princess Katharina Henckel von Donnersmarck, sold for $1,845,319 in 2007.
Accompanied by report no. 48851 dated 20 June 2007 from the SSEF stating that the fifteen emeralds, weighing (from right to left) 6.03, 7.07, 10.44, 8.27, 13.72, 19.62, 18.00, 29.94, 16.37, 19.17, 13.11, 11.39, 6.59, 7.72, and 6.82 carats are all of Colombian origin, with minor to moderate amount of oil in fissures Countess Henckel von Donnersmarck, known as 'La Païva' (1882-1884) Count Guido Henckel von Donnersmarck (1884-1887)
Countess, later Princess, Katharina Henckel von Donnersmarck 1887-1929, during which time the diamond spacers were added.
This magnificent emerald drops, mounted as tiara - possibly the most important to have appeared at auction in over 30
years - since in fact it was sold at Sotheby's Zurich in 1979 ( bought by Alexander Reza). It is also probably the grandest tiara to exist outside
Royal, State and museum collections.
When this as tiara was first offered at auction at Sotheby's in Zurich, on 15th November 1979, lot 823, the catalogue
footnote stated that family tradition linked the eleven pear-shaped emerald drops to the French Imperial Crown
Jewels.
La Païva paid more than 30 visits to the Boucheron boutique in the Palais Royal, between 1878 and 1883. One of the most memorable is recorded in the archives of the 27 of October 1882:
'Madame la Comtesse Henckel de Donnersmarck bought
2 emeralds (144 carats for the 2 of them) for 14 256 francs,
1 emerald (59 carats) for 4 974 francs,
2 rubies (10 carats) for 17 540 francs,
2 other rubies (12 carats) for 8 050 francs,
1 sapphire (43 carats) for 23 000 francs and
24 pearls (391 grains) for 30 107 francs
1 pearl for 60 000 francs, . She spent on that single day 157 957 gold francs.'
The next day, on the 28th of October, the Countess went back at Boucheron to order settings for all theses stones.
The three enormous emeralds were set on a bracelet in the shape of a trefoil. For the setting alone, the Countess paid an additional charge of 745 francs.
Even more fascinating was the diamond and ruby rivière which she ordered at Boucheron on that same day. It contained only 25 stones: 12 diamonds of 7 carats, and 13 rubies of an amazing 103 carats. This jewel, of very simple design, must have been the twin (albeit slightly smaller) of the emerald necklace offered here for sale as lot 396.
Between the years 1878 and 1883 (she had left Paris in 1878 and died January 1884 at Neudeck Castle in Prussia), Countess Henckel von Donnersmarck spent 100 000 francs every year at Boucheron.
