This tiara of the Grimaldi family is one of two historic pieces of jewellery
owned by them and still with the family. It was a highlight of the exhibition
at Monaco in 2007, which celebrated the life of Princess Grace. However
this diadem was never worn publicly by Princess Grace.
The palace princier has
stated that the tiara, formerly the property of Princess Charlotte of
Monaco, Duchess of Valentinois, was made by Cartier Paris.
There is a small pictures of Princess Charlotte in 1933, wearing this delicate jewel, set in platinum and white gold.

a very similar tiara exists in the Thurn & Taxis jewel vault, set

emeralds instead of pearls and made by Hancocks London >>
Princess Caroline wore the tiara with hanging pear-shaped pearls several
times at events and gatherings before her marriage. Since that time, she
has mostly worn tiaras the property of the Hannover
family, such as the Honeysuckle
- Tiara >> or the diamond tiara
from Princess Victoria-Luise >>
Although the Cartier pearl and diamond tiara was not worn publicly by
Princess Grace, she certainly owned three or four tiaras:
*The Bain de Mer ruby tiara
*The ruby cabochon tiara
*The small diamond tiara
*The necklace diamond tiara of VanCleef & Arpels (not proven)
(and she wore some on loan like that worn at the centenary gala or the
tiara with turquoise)
Princess Caroline is the only one, who has worn all of the historic pieces.
The diamond fringe tiara was worn by her as a necklace (as above) at the
evening gala for her brother's enthronement in 2005 and the diamond and
pearl tiara was in the exhibition in 2007.
Therefore, two historic pieces
are still with the Grimaldi family.
