gest. 1. Nov. 1860 in Tsarskoie Selo, St.Petersburg

Älteste Tochter von König Friedrich Wilhelm III. von Preußen (1770–1840) u. Luise von Mecklenburg–Strelitz (1776–1810);
.
Schwester der preußischen Könige Friedrich Wilhelm IV. u. Wilhelm I.
Mutter von Kaiser Alexander II. (1818–1881), Maria Nikolajewna, Herzogin von Leuchtenberg (1819–1876) u. Olga Nikolajewna, Königin von Württemberg (1822–1892).

The sapphires in the Empress' brooch look similar in size and shape to the central stone in the stomacher of Grand Duchess Vladimir, the small cabochon stones in the other pendants could be supplied by Cartier. Princess Ileana of Romania wrote about this jewel of her ancestors, she knows that it was the same in an altered version, later owned by the Grand Duchess Wladimir and sold to her mother Queen Marie of Romania. The tiara was left to her by her mother, she sold it USA in 1950, the whereabout is unknown.

Nicholas married Charlotte of Prussia (1798-1860). She was since then called Alexandra Feodorovna. Charlotte was daughter of Frederick William III of Prussia and Louise of Mecklenburg-Strelitz. Nicholas was the Emperor of Russia from 1825 until 1855 and king of Poland from 1825 until 1831.

He was born in Gatchina to Paul I of Russia and Sophie Marie Dorothea of Württemberg. He was a younger brother to Alexander I of Russia and Grand Duke Constantine Pavlovich of Russia.
