Emerald Diamond flower Brooch presented by HRH the Duchess of Cambridge
Ein Blumenstraus aus Diamanten und im Zentrum mit 4 rechteckigen Smaragden
besetzt, wurde von der Herzogin von Cambridge, geb. Landgräfin Augusta von Hessen-Kassel 1797 – 1889, als Hochzeits-Geschenk
an die Prinzessin Alexandra von Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg
überreicht.
Die Brosche wurde bei Garrard London gefertigt. Von der späteren Königin Alexandra ist bekannt, dass sie fast nur weisse Juwelen, also Perlen bzw Diamant- und Brillantschmuck trug, deshalb ist es möglich, dass die Brosche umgearbeitet wurde.
Der große viereckige Smaragd wurde bei den Hochzeitsgeschenken extra als "sehr gut und von hohem Wert", erwähnt.
Ein entsprechender Smaragd in dieser Grösse ist in einer Brosche der Königinmutter Elizabeth gefasst. Dies könnte der neu gefasste Edelstein sein.
Emerald Diamond flower Brooch presented by HRH the Duchess of Cambridge
The brooch of emeralds and diamonds was in the form of a floral spray. Made by Garrard and Co., it was the wedding gift from HRH the Duchess of Cambridge, Landgravine Augusta of Hesse Cassel 1797 – 1889, to Princess Alexandra.
“The Duchess of Cambridge’s present is a very elegant and artistic flower-pattern brilliant brooch, the centres of the flowers and the buds formed of emeralds, one of which is of great size and value.”
