Greville Emerald and Diamond Koskoshnik|Boucheron Tiara | Royal Wedding Princess Eugenie England| Jewels of Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother

Princess Eugenie is wearing the Greville Emerald Kokoshnik Tiara, lent to her by Her Majesty The Queen on her wedding day on 12th October 2018. The tiara was made by Boucheron for Mrs Greville in 1919 in the fashionable ‘kokoshnik’ style popularised in the Russian Imperial Court.

It features five horizontal bands of diamonds, set with six hexagonal emeralds on the third row, on either side. Centered on a large cabochon emerald with a 93.7 carats surrounded by rose-cut diamonds.

The tiara is made of brilliant and rose cut diamonds pavé set in platinum. The tiara was bequeathed by Mrs Greville to Queen Elizabeth in 1942.

Princess Eugenie is wearing diamond and emerald drop ear-rings which are a wedding gift from the groom, Jack Brooksbank. The bride’s wedding ring is from Welsh gold a gift of the Queen.

List of jewels given from Mrs Greville to Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother

To Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth - Buckingham Palace "With my loving thoughts all my jewels and jewellery except such as is hereby or by any Codicil hereto specifically bequeathed".

Jewels And ‘Love’ To The Queen £20,000 To Princess Margaret Rose Dame Margaret Helen Greville. better known Mrs. Ronald Greville, personal friend of the Royal Family, and one-time London’s foremost hostess, has left estate valued at £1.564.033. Duties on the estate now announced amount to £830,120.
Among her bequests were: With my loving thoughts,” all jewels and jewellery to Queen Eizabeth; £20,000 to Princess Margaret Rose; £12,500 to Queen Victoria Eugenie of Spain; £lO,OOO to Captain O. Sitwell; and £5,000 to Dr. Alexander McCall and Sir Stewart Duke-Elder; and £lO,OOO to the National Antivivisection Society. The bequest of £20,000 to Princess Margaret Rose is the first big sum of money known to have been left to her, though, of course', details of the will of members of the Royal Family are never made public.

Dame Margaret Greville, better known as the Hon. Mrs. Ronald Greville, an intimate friend of the King and Queen, and a popular society hostess some years ago, died in London to-day. The widow of Captain the Hon. Ronald Greville, M.P., a son of the second Lord Greville, she formerly entertained widely at her home at Polesden Lacey, near Dorking. The King and Queen spent part of their honeymoon there. The daughter of the late Mr. William McEwan, M.P., the Scottish millionaire brewer, Mrs. Greville , inherited a large fortune.
Her jewels, like her parties, and her wit, were famous. Some of her emeralds were reputed to have belonged to the Empress Josephine.
Mrs. Greville was favourite hostess three generations of the Royal family, beginning with King Edward the Seventh.

BRILLIANT SOCIETY PARTY. Many Royalties Entertained by the Hon. Mrs. Ronald Greville. - - - Hon. Mrs. Ronald Greville (or Dame Margaret Greville, as she likes to be called) had a very brilliant party last night at her house in Charles Street, her dance, which was preceded by a dinner to forty-six guests, being attended by a number of Royalties. ' The house is one of the finest in Town for entertaining, and'in the beautiful' dining-room, hung with dark green brocade upon which some fine 'examples of Dutch art are hung, dinner was served at three tables, one long one and two smaller round ones. The decorations were American pillar roses, and those who were invited to dinner included : Lord Louis Mountbatten and his fiancee, Miss Edwina Ashley, Lady . Alexandra Curzon, Lady Mary Thynne, Baroness Kathleen Moncheur, Miss Victoria Cadogan, Earl and Countess Beatty and Miss Field, the Lord Chancellor' and Lady Birkenhead, the Earl and Countess of ilchester and Lady Mary Fox-Strangways, the Marquis and Marchioness of Blandford, Lady Ribblesdale and Miss Alice Astor, Mrs. Dudley Ward, Sir Philip Sassoon, Major Giles Loder, Captain the Hon Inigo Freeman-Thomas, and Colonel the Hon. • Walter Guinness. For the dance the ballroom was used which Mrs. Grevillo has just enlarged by throwing two rooms into one, and it makes a magnificent dancing floor, the room being elaborately decorated in white and gold. •a few pink hydrangeas being used in the fireplaces. The Duke of York, the Princess Royal, with Princess Maud, Princess Arthur of Connaught, Princess Helena Victoria, Princess Alice and the Earl of Athlone. kind Commander and Lady Patricia Ramsay all came to the dance, at which Vassie's hand played. The Hon. Mrs. Ronald Greville received her guests in a wonderful white draped gown and many emeralds, and amongst those invited to meet the Royal.

SENSATIONAL GEMS. Emeralds are the jewel par excellence of the present season. Lady Aberdeen has a tiara with five emeralds said to be the largest in the world Lady Sherborne possesses wonderful emeralds, once the property of the late Princess Mary of Teck; Lady Londesborough, Lady Carnarvon, Lady Rosse, and Lady Carew possess splendid emeralds, Mrs Ronald Greville and Mrs Arthur Paget. Lady Carew's finest emerald was presented to her the Shah of Persia.
The ruby is precious jewel, which increases iv value. Lady Winiborne's are splendid, and she owns tie famous Hope ruby. Lady Dudley's rubies are very fine; aud Mrs Bradley Martin's aro of sensational value.

The honeycomb diamond tiara. The Boucheron tiara, worn today by the Duchess of Cornwall, was altered many times. Originally it was a complete circlet in egyptian style with papyrus motifs in diamonds. Mrs Greville had it remounted as a bandeau after WWI at Boucheron. The Queen Mother had it altered by Cartier.

The emerald and diamond kokoshnik with large cabochon was worn by Mrs Greville in the picture on top, in the second row in the 1937. The Queen Mother didn't ware the emerald kokoshnik in public.

The diamond earpendants worn by Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother.

Some emerald earrings, an emerald and diamond bracelet, and something like 40 or 45 pieces of jewellry.

In 1923 she completed her emerald parure with pendant earrings composed of two large pear-shaped cabochons suspended from a line of four detachable diamonds.

Mrs Greville was a very rich and elegant woman. From 1895 until 1920 she was a very regular Boucheron client. It meant that she would come almost every week to the London boutique and some times more.

She also ordered at Boucheron two diamond necklaces, a very long sautoir and a shorter one which could be worn together.

She had two very important pearl necklaces, one of five rows and one of four. The clasps were made by Boucheron.

Apparently the ring worn by the Duchess of Cornwall, probably her engagement ring, the diamond in the shape of a playing card, was also mounted by Boucheron, unless it has been remounted since Mrs Greville.

Altogether her name appears about 200 times in the Boucheron archives until 1920. After that time it seems she switched to another jeweller, to the Maison Cartier.

The list of all her jewels, at least the ones bought at Boucheron, must be nerly a hundred.
