Above in the picture we see a painting of Therese Queen of Bavaria made beween the years 1825-1830. The Queen is pictured wearing her famous Loversknot Diadem, with a double row of pearls as base, in very high version and on her body are pinned eight of her fourteen ears of wheat are ornamented as spray.

Designed as a wreath composed of fourteen detachable ears of wheat, each set throughout with old cushion-shaped diamonds, inner circumference approximately 380mm, unsigned, further comprising a composite pendant consisting of two ears of wheat, three brooches and two fragmentary ears of wheat.

Blackened silver tiara frame added later. Diamonds estimated to weigh a total of approximately 55.00 - 60.00 carats, on average J-K, some L-M colour, SI-I clarity, as gauged and graded in the mount. Tarnish and scratches o the metal commensurate with age, evidence of soldering to some examples. Two ears of wheat converted into a pendant . Three ears of wheat converted into brooches, the tongue end clasps of these ears of wheat have been removed. Two fragmentary ears of wheat. . Height of tiara approximately 50mm. Gross weight of tiara approximately 180 grams, gross weight of remaining items approximately 54 grams. Total gross weight approximately 234 grams.

Probably the wedding gift of King and Queen of Bavaria - 12.Oktober 1810? The Bavarian King also ordered personal jewellery from Nitot. In 1810, he spent several months at the Parisian court (see the letter and notes, between his son the Kronprinz and King of the time in german). During this time his son and heir, the later King Ludwig I (1786-1868), was engaged to Therese of Sachsen-Hildburghausen (1792-1854). It is entirely possible that the Bavarian King acquired these diamond ears of wheat at Nitot as a wedding present for his new daughter-in-law. Nitot was famous for creating wheat sheaf tiaras, one of the most popular and perennially beloved models of the Empire-era, evoking the Roman-inspired majesty of Napoleon's court.

Probably the wedding gift of King and Queen of Bavaria - October 12, 1810 ...In the final evening 7 a.m., the cannon sound roars into the streets of the city, all shouting, trumpets blaring from Peterthurme, music sounds on the main squares. The wedding ceremony begins a few minutes after 7 o'clock, the bride's virgin, dressed as a fairy, in white silky robe, wreatenes the lovely forehead with a magnificent diadem flashing from the most precious stones.... led by father and mother Duchess and Duke of Saxe-Hildburghausen.

In the beautiful shimmering residential chapel, then also followed by the Bavarian court. King Max and Queen Karoline lead the groom.....

Therese Charlotte Luise Friederike Amalie of Saxe-Hildburghausen originally intended by her family as a wife of her uncle Grand Duke George of Mecklenburg-Strelitz, Therese was on the list of princesses, which Napoleon had had himself put together in 1809 to marry as a self-proclaimed emperor in an old European princely house. But Crown Prince Ludwig of Bavaria had decided faster for Therese.

On the one hand, the prince, like his sister Auguste, feared to be forced to have a marriage from Napoleon: "I absolutely must marry. On the other hand, his father Maximilian I advised him to the Saxon princess of Hildburghausen: "[...] a princess of Hildburghausen [...] is love, friendly and kind, and could give away an excellent woman. Of course, she will not be able to bring a lot of money and good into marriage, but the smallness of the country, which has been forced into the Confederation of the Rhine, makes marriage politically safe."

From 21st to 24th December 1809, Ludwig visited the ducal residence in Hildburghausen His parents, the King and Queen of Bavaria, followed an invitation of Napoleon to Paris at the time. The Crown Prince believed that they negotiated with the Emperor about his marriage with a French princess.

When choosing between princesses Therese and Luise, he decided on Therese, although her sister was the preater of the two.

In January 1810, Louis' father, in Paris gave his consent to his son's election and showed that Napoleon himself had been determined to marry Princess Therese: "In the public, there was eight days the speech that the emperor would marry your future wife. Imagine my fear of how he started to speak of it on a ball bey Savari himself."
On the 12th In February 1810, Hildburghausen engagement took place, while Ludwig's parents The King and Queen, were still in Paris.

At the latest at the engagement ball, one can see the lively correspondence of the bride and groom, the lightly flammable Crown Prince Ludwig seemed to have fallen in love with Princess Therese. However, the quick marriage he wanted was delayed, since a detailed marriage contract still had to be negotiated, which was mainly due to the various denomination of the fiancé and the unwilling of Thereses to change their faith.

The Bavarian ambassador Freiherr Karl Ludwig von Keßling appeared in Hildburghausen to recruit the bride. On the 23rd In June 1810, the official advertising to Hof was made and Therese received a portrait of the groom adorned with brilliants as a bridal gift.
The princess traveled with her parents and her sister on the 6th place. October to Munich. Therese was abandoned in Hildburghausen. On this occasion, Friedrich Rückert wrote the wedding and farewell poem An an all-for-so-friendly bride. On the occasion of this solemn retreat, the Theresienfest has been celebrated annually in Hildburghausen since the early nineties, which has now become the largest folk festival in southern Thuringia.
