Jewels worn by Queen Alexandra
Queen Alexandra's personal coronet with crosses, which she ordered from Carrington, is now in the possession of the Norwegian royal family.
The fleur-de-lys ornaments are no longer with the coronet. According to Vincent Meylan, in his book Christie's: The Archives Revealed, the fleurs-dy-lys had probably been unmounted prior to Queen Maud inheriting the piece. He suggests that the fleurs-dy-lys were perhaps given by Queen Alexandra as personal gifts. One of the fleur-de-lys was auctioned by Christie's on 3 May 1937. It was the property of the Dowager Lady Glenarthur. The Dowager Lady Glenarthur was the widow of the 1st Baron Glenarthur, Matthew Arthur of Carlung.
The long link-chain was a important jewel because it was a diamond jubilee present to Queen Victoria>>
Probably she left it to Queen Alexandra, who wore it several times as a chain and as ornaments in front of her gown, as seen in 1902.
According to Christie's archives, the chain was inherited by the Princess Royal, Louise, Duchess of Fife the daughter of Queen Alexandra and in turn by
Princess Alexandra, Duchess of Fife Princess Arthur of Connaught>>
