Königin Elisabeth II Schmuck:
Aquamarin Diamant Diadem
- in Deutsch>>
At her coronation in 1953 Queen Elizabeth II was given a diamond necklace
with very large aquamarines and matching earrings by the president and
the people of Brazil. Later they gave the Queen also a matching bracelet.
Queen Elizabeth ordered the royal jeweller Garrard to complete the parure
with a tiara. This wonderful creation has an aquamarine as a focal point
which exceeds in size and beauty all other stones of this set.
Originally the tiara consisted of a
bandeau with 3 upright aquamarines. Later it was augmented to its
present form.
When first made in 1957, the tiara consisted of the three upright rectangular
stones (detachable for use as brooches), mounted on a simple platinum
band. The large central stone was originally the pendant of the necklace
given to The Queen by the President and People of Brazil in 1953 as
a Coronation present. In 1971 the tiara was redesigned and adapted to
take four scroll ornaments from an aquamarine
and diamond head jewel given to The Queen by the Governor of São
Paulo in 1968.
The necklace was a Coronation gift to The Queen from the President and
People of Brazil in 1953. The perfectly matched 9 large square-cut aquamarines
are in diamond and platinum settings. The original detachable pendant
of the necklace was later mounted in the centre of the tiara by Garrard
and has been replaced by a smaller stone, also detachable. Made by Mapping
& Webb, Rio de Janeiro 1953 and 1971.
The earrings matching the necklace were also a Coronation gift to The
Queen from the President and People of Brazil in 1953. The perfectly
matched stones are in diamond and platinum settings. Made by Mappin
& Webb, Rio de Janeiro in 1953.
The bracelet with (seven) oblong aquamarines set in diamonds, were presented
to The Queen by the Brazilian Government in 1958 as a matching addition
to the original Coronation gift of 1953. Now the bracelet is shorted
to 5 aquamarines.
The brooch was presented to The Queen by the Brazilian Government in
1958 as a matching addition to the original Coronation gift of 1953
