The royal wedding gift from the Members of the Canadian Legion of the British Empire Service League (now known as the Royal Canadian Legion) to Princess Elizabeth was a gold maple leaf brooch with "a diamond encrusted stem with diamonds around the flag on the superimposed Legion crest. It is enamelled in colours." Another description of the gift stated that the superimposed Legions crest would be "in coloured enamel studded with rubies and diamonds."
The gift was presented on behalf of the Legion by Canadian Prime Minister Mackenzie King at a private luncheon at Buckingham Palace on November 17. The main present to the Princess from the Legion was food parcels purchased through the non-profit CARE organization and delivered to the British Legion.
Thank you to Laura.
