Marina, the Duchess of Kent, is pictured wearing part of the magnificent sapphire and diamond parure given to her by Queen Mary, her godmother and mother-in-law, in 1934 and later.
The set now belongs to the current Duchess of Kent.
Parts of the historic Cambridge Sapphire Parure have been sold. Others are modified by the current Duchess of Kent. The necklace was transformed into a tiara and pair of earrings, while the bracelets were used as a choker necklace.
Katherine, the Duchess of Kent was seen in public with the smaller versions in 1984. In a simpler setting, with a brooch and Duchess Katherine used the necklace-choker as a sapphire tiara, after selling the tiara. It was later sold and is now in the collection of the founder of the jewelry house Moira.
